Last Saturday I wrote a post about recognising I needed to lose some weight, and get a fair bit fitter and healthier. I have a plan. Good start.
My idea was to be accountable. What stupid idiot thought that was a good idea?!
I got heaps more comments than usual (thanks Givinya) and it was surprising how many of my loyal readers were also contemplating the same depressing issue in their own lives. It's amazing how coming out of those winter clothes can give us all a shake-up.
So Givinya made a suggestion, I seconded it, and Femina made it actually happen.
Ta da!
So, if you'd like to join us, send Femina an email at swellen1970[at]gmail[dot]com and she can do some magic. The idea is that we can share as much or as little as we want of our journey towards strength, flexibility, cardio-vascular fitness, and that elusive dress size.
All I need to do now is to offend all the farmers in my local congregation by asking them if they have any skinny cows at the moment, and can I come and take a photo of one?
How popular am I going to be?
...Approximately ...Hang on, I don't have to do that here! Freedom! Yippee!

Well Wow. I didn't really make a suggestion did I? It wasn't that well-formed in my mind. I was just sayin'. I never thought you'd go and DO something about it!!!
Operation Skinny Cow was just one suggestion. Swift Jan's husband, who is by no means awfully large once declined some sort of food due to what he called "Operation Lardarse-Be-Gone," which I thought was fantastic. But OSC works for me.
So, here's my problem. I don't have any scales. I broke the last set by standing on them, and while that may SOUND bad, they were really cheap and rubbish and you had to press really hard with your foot on them to switch them on and the on switch wasn't working and so I sorta stepped on them a bit too hard ... so there you are.
I don't know how much I weigh. I measure my lard-arse-ness in the fat over my tummy and the clothes that no longer fit.
My goal isn't to lose a number of kilos, it's to lost this paunch and fit nice clothes again.
But I'll buy some scales and then I'll be able to play along properly.
GdeE,
I have no problem with you using a waist measurement or similar rather than weight. I actually keep measurements because I think they're a better indicator, but weight is easier to compare sometimes.
JUST DON'T BUY SCALES!! I have a spare giveaway set here that I've not known what to do with. Everyone I knew already had some. I'll bring you a little pressie next week!
Awesome!!
And I had forgotten Swift Jim's "Operation Lardarse begone" LOL
Rightio, off to find feminas email...
Givinya, I so wish I'd heard Operation Lardarse-Be-Gone before naming this blog!
A support group for weight loss sounds like a good idea. For me however I simply try to eat as well as possible with occasional treats (can't go too long without chocolate). My back yard veggie garden is a great help!

This is a great idea gals. I'm fortunate in that I don't need to lose weight, but I would like to get fitter (and maintain my weight - I have IBS, so sometimes keeping the weight on is more difficult than losing it!!)
